This May, Justin Guarini, Briga Heelan, and Aisha Jackson will arrive in New York City to take the stage in the brand-new musical Once Upon a One More Time, which features Britney Spears’ music.
In the “ultimate revisionist history,” Guarini, Heelan, and Jackson will reprise their respective parts as Cinderella, Prince Charming, and Snow White, respectively. From November 2021 to January 2022, they made their debut as the characters while performing at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. The production will now make its Broadway debut, with preview performances set to start on May 13 at the Marquis Theatre and an opening night date of June 22.
When Cinderella, Snow White, the Little Mermaid, and other well-known storybook characters come across a new entry for their book club: The Feminine Mystique, what happens next is the subject of Jon Hartmere’s play, Once Upon a One More Time, which fuses the world of fairy tales and pop music.
Guarini’s return to his pop music roots as a finalist on the first season of American Idol is made possible by the show. His appearance on reality TV led to his co-starring role in the camp classic From Justin to Kelly with eventual American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. He has also won over hearts and minds while singing for cola in a number of Dr. Pepper commercials as Lil’ Sweet.
Following appearances on Broadway in American Idiot, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and Wicked, Guarini is back with Once Upon a One More Time. While Jackson has previously made appearances on Broadway in Waitress, Frozen, and Paradise Square, Heelan has demonstrated his comedic skills on sitcoms like Great News and B Positive.
