Dr. Shohreh Ghasemi, an accomplished oral surgeon, adjunct assistant professor in the Augusta University OMFS Department, faculty member at the Georgia School of Orthodontics, and human rights activist, has been recognized for her outstanding achievements in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, community development, and human rights advocacy.
Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1984, Dr. Ghasemi earned her BDS in dental surgery from Sharjah University and her MS in Aesthetic Dentistry from Manchester University in the United Kingdom. In addition, she has obtained several diplomas and fellowships in cosmetic surgery, laser and skin physics, and face implants from prestigious institutions in the US and Europe.
Dr. Ghasemi began her career in 2012 as a practitioner in facial cosmetic surgery at several clinics in Tehran, and she later worked as a professor and trainer at various universities and companies. In 2020, she joined Augusta University as an adjunct faculty member, where she earned the title of adjunct clinical assistant professor. She has also authored several renowned books on oral and maxillofacial surgery, including Innovative Perspective in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Mini Invasive Techniques in Rhinoplasty.
Dr. Ghasemi has been recognized for her contributions to community development and human rights advocacy. She has provided treatments to over 250 patients, organized conferences, and conducted several types of research on “facial cosmetic surgery.” She has also received recognition from the US state department for her efforts in community colleges and workforce development. Entrepreneur magazine has listed her as one of the top 10 cosmetic surgeons in the world.
In the wake of her sister’s sudden passing, she has decided to channel her grief into something positive by launching a non-profit scholarship academy organization in her sister’s memory. The organization, named after her beloved sister as the Shima Scholarship Academy, will provide educational opportunities to underprivileged students who may not have the financial means to pursue their academic dreams. With this initiative, she hopes to honor her sister’s legacy by making a difference in the lives of others and empowering them to achieve their full potential through education.
“I am honored to have been recognized for my achievements in oral and maxillofacial surgery, community development, and human rights advocacy,” said Dr. Ghasemi. “My passion for helping others through the art of facial cosmetic surgery and my dedication to educating future generations of surgeons drive me to strive for excellence every day. I am grateful for the opportunity to positively impact the lives of my patients, my colleagues, and my community.”
